Katarina has had a pretty 'ruff' life.
The 10-year-old Yorkie spent her entire life cooped up on a puppy mill farm. She was treated poorly and not given the life she deserves.
With the help of Hub City Humane Society in Mississippi, Katarina was freed from her awful living arrangements and placed with a foster mom, Ashleigh Reader.
Katarina was immediately a different dog, full of love and happiness. She couldn't sit still!
"She has the sweetest personality regardless of everything that she's been through," Reader told The Dodo. "When I picked her up, she was obsessing over any toy she saw, so I figured she would want her very own toys. We went straight from there to Petsmart."
Here's the video of Katarina picking out her very own toy for the first time:
I CAN'T EVEN DEAL WITH IT. Look how happy Katarina is!! Both with her toys and her new friend Ashleigh.
In the end, she settled on two toys. One was a squeaky corn dog. The other was a stuffed bunny rabbit. Katarina surprisingly doesn't want to bite the corn dog at all, just cover it in licks. The bunny, on the other hand, is a different story.
"She's so hyper that it's tough to get her to sit still long enough," said Reader. "She's definitely a very happy pup!"
Katarina will be up for adoption in the next few months. For more information on how you can help save animals from puppy mills, talk to your local humane society!
