25 Record-Breaking Animals That Will Make You Wonder How They Are Even Real

Adore Animals

Each pet is unique and special in their own way, but some are more special than others. These 25 animals all stand out because of their impressive physical features or skills, which earned them a spot in the Guinness World Records books. Check them out, then see how your pooch can pop 100 balloons.

1. Keon, the dog with the longest tail

The Irish wolfhound's fly-swatter is an impressive 30.2 inches long, from the bone to the tip, not including hair.

2. Bini, most slam dunks by a rabbit in one minute

Bini hippity-hopped his way into the record books with this impressive 7-basket rally, with the help of his owner and trainer, Shai Asor.

3. Purin, the wonderdog

Why settle for just one record? This elderly Beagle completed 51 jump rope skips with her owner in under a minute to earn their first record, then blocked 14 mini soccer balls in the same time limit.

Purin also managed to balance on an exercise ball while she rolled 10 meters forward. If that's not impressive enough for you, Purin pulled it off in 12 seconds. Purin is a very good dog.

4. Cygnus, the cat with the longest tail

At 17.58 inches long, her owner has to be careful not to step on this long, fluffy Maine Coon cat tail.

5. Caspa, the llama who jumped the highest bar

While they're known for being stubborn, llamas have been trained to shepherd other livestock for hundreds of years. Caspa showed off her skills by leaping over a 3 foot, 8.5 inch bar.

6. Manikyam, the world's smallest cow

While her owners fed and raised her normally, this tiny cow grew up to be only 2 feet tall, smaller than a Labrador retriever.

7. Tigger, the dog with the longest ears ever recorded

Tell Tigger how nice his ears are, because no matter where you are he can probably hear you. His right ear is actually a little longer than the left one: 13.75 inches compared to just 13.5.

8. Chris, the world's woolliest sheep

When Chris was separated from the rest of his herd, he grew a staggering 88 pounds of the fluffy stuff, which was shaved off by his rescuers.

9. Einstein, the world's smallest horse

Einstein's owners have been breading "Pinto Stallions" for 20 years, but most of them grow to be 3 feet tall. Einstein is just 2 feet tall, and only weighs 6 pounds.

10. Ozzy, the tightrope-walking dog

Not only did Ozzy keep his balance as he crossed the line (to be fair, he has four paws to balance on, instead of two feet) he did it in a record-breaking 18.22 seconds.

If you thought that was cool, there are even more impressive animals on this list...

11. Snooty, the world's oldest surviving manatee

While Snooty sadly passed away earlier this year, she left behind an impressive legacy. Born in captivity, Snooty lived to the ripe old age of 69. Rest in peace Snooty!

12. Otto, the skateboarding Bulldog

Otto holds the very unique record of "longest human tunnel skateboarded through by a dog." The Peruvian pup shredded underneath 30 people to set the record in 2015.

13. Milly, the smallest dog ever recorded

The teacup Chihuahua is just under 4 inches tall, but she makes up for it in sheer cuteness.

14. Freddy, the tallest living dog

This 3 foot, 4.75 inch tall Great Dane has a habit of snacking on his owner's couches, and even if she hides his treats on top of the fridge he can pull them down.

15. Lazy J's Bluegrass, the longhorn with the longest horns

Even in a herd of cows, Bluegrass stands out for his intimidating 9 feet, 8 inch long horns. I'll admire them from my side of the fence, just to be safe.

16. Arcturus, the tallest domestic cat ever

Owned by the same couple as Cygnus, the long-tailed cat, this Savannah breed can stand at the dinner table and beg for scraps. On his back paws, he stands 19 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds.

17. Hercules, world's largest living cat

Hercules is a "liger," the child of a male lion and a female tiger. He's the undisputed king of his wildlife preserve in Myrtle Beach, measuring 131 inches long and weighing 922 pounds.

18. Mochi, the dog with the longest tongue

This Saint Bernard uses his 7-inch long tongue to slurp up his favorite treat, peanut butter.

19. Zac, the superparrot

After learning to ride a bike, Zac started branching out into other tricks, including slam dunking basketballs and opening pop cans with his beak (he holds the record for doing both in one minute). Zac can slam dunk 22 balls in one minute, and crack open 25 pop cans. Talk about a party animal.

20. Merlin, the cat who purrs the loudest

Imagine an alarm clock going off in your home every time your pet was happy. That's what Merlin's owner puts up with, because his purrs are an ear-splitting 67 decibels. That's about the same volume as a hairdryer! But Merlin can get even louder when he's in the mood.

21. Toby, the balloon-popping Whippet

This energetic dog from Calgary, Canada beat his own record by popping 100 balloons in just 28.22 seconds. That's more than 3 balloons per second. Here's footage of Toby's first world record attempt (not his most recent one).

22. Big Jake, the world's tallest horse

This 9-year-old Belgian Gelding stands at an enormous 20.68 hands, or 82.75 inches for us city-folk.

23. Alley, the long-jumping cat

This flighty feline managed to bound 6 feet in a single jump.

24. Franchesca, the rabbit with the longest hair

The English Angora bunny grew her hair out to an impressive 14.37 inches for her record.

25. Bertie, the fastest tortoise ever

Bertie's owners built him his own track in the backyard so he could practice his sprints. The hard work paid off, because he was clocked running 0.92 feet per second. That's speedy!...Well, for a turtle at least.
