In 2013, Randy Travis gave the country music world a scare. The country legend suffered a massive stroke that almost took him from this earth.
The Grammy winner fought and fought hard, emerging victorious and gaining back a lot of his strength. He appeared with his wife, Mary Davis-Travis at the induction ceremony for the Country Music Hall of Fame. Randy Travis, along with two other inductees, were honored during the ceremony.
Mary Davis-Travis spoke about her husband's fight to regain his health. It required numerous procedures and surgeries, as well as a six-month stay in the hospital, but Randy Travis never gave up.
"Randy stared death in the face, but death blinked," Davis-Travis said. "Today God's proof of a miracle stands before you."
But perhaps the most emotional moment of the night was when Travis himself took the stage to serenade the audience. He chose a classic, Amazing Grace, and there was not a dry eye in the house.
Take a look for yourself. Randy Travis' perseverance is an inspiration to us all.
