6 Ways To Make Cabbage That Will Send You Back To The Patch Again and Again

Cooktop Cove

Many of us grew up with some Eastern European blood in our veins. If you did chances are your meals were centered pretty heavily around cabbage. You're one of the lucky ones.

Cabbage is a delicious and often overlooked vegetable. Sure using it as a throw in is common, and cabbage rolls are popular, but there's more than one way to cook a cabbage.

I'm Ukrainian so I'm somewhat of an authority on good cabbage recipes (thanks Grandma!) so you can trust this list.

Without further adieu here are 6 incredible ways to cook cabbage.

Copycat KFC

We know KFC is about a lot more than fried chicken. They have lots of other standouts, like their gravy, potatoes and of course, their coleslaw. You don't need to take a trip down to see the Colonel in order to get some delicious coleslaw though - all you need is this recipe from Todd Wilbur and Food.com.

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Like I said before, cabbage rolls are very popular, so that means you probably know that they're also a pain to make. They don't have to be though. In fact Cooktop Cove has a recipe that will make your next cabbage roll dinner easier than you ever could have imagined. Full recipe and directions are right here.

Slowcooker Cabbage Rolls

If you like the more traditional look of cabbage rolls don't worry. I found a recipe that can make it happen without all the hard work. Everything's easier with a slowcooker and that includes cabbage rolls! Here's how to make them.

Cabbage Soup, But Not Like You Think

I didn't know about a soup from Portugal called Caldo Verde. Now that I've had it though I'm yelling its name from the mountains. It's delicious, just a little bit spicy and easy to make. What's not to love? Find a great recipe for it here.

Just By Itself

Braised cabbage is simple, delicious, but it comes with a warning: it might upstage your main course. When I make it I usually pair it with pork, but I think it'd also be great with beef. There's a few things to keep in mind when braising cabbage and Better Homes and Gardens has a lot of great info - check it out.

Make Your Own Sauerkraut

I'm a big fan of Reuben sandwiches, but you can't have a good Reuben without Sauerkraut. Make your own in a shockingly simple fashion. See The Prairie Homestead's How-To guide here.
