70% Of Olive Oil Found To Be Fake, Test Yours Now

It's not fun to realize that companies can flat out lie about what they put in their products. It was recently discovered that 70% of the olive oil products on the market are actually lying about their contents.

14 different brands were found to have been diluted with cheaper, inferior oils that save the company money but defeat the purpose of purchasing the expensive oils in the first place.

The University of California decided to test 124 imported brands of extra virgin olive oil after hearing about the investigation in Australia that found not one brand was worthy of certification in 2012.

These brands failed the test:

  • Carapelli
  • Mezzetta
  • Pompeian
  • Mazola
  • Primadonna
  • Colavita
  • Sasso
  • Antica Badia
  • Star
  • Whole Foods
  • Felippo Berio
  • Safeway
  • Coricelli
  • Bertolli

These brands passed the test:

  • Lucero
  • McEvoy Ranch Organic
  • Corto Olive
  • Omaggio
  • Bariani Olive Oil
  • California Olive Ranch
  • Lucini
  • Ottavio
  • Cobram Estate
  • Kirkland Organic

Want to check if the one you have at home is real or fake? There is a very simple test you can do.

All you have to do is put your bottle of olive oil in the fridge for a half hour. If it starts to solidify then your olive oil is pure, if it doesn't then it is a fake.

Share with your friends so they can check their olive oil!
