9 Brow-Raising Celebrity Conspiracy Theories That'll Keep You Up At Night

Sometimes we find it hard to explain the things that go on around us, so naturally we come up with our own reasons for why things happen. Not only do we do this for incidents that take place in our lives, we also like to bring celebrities into the mix.

As it turns out, everything we've ever known about the entertainment industry is a lie. Some of them are government operatives and others are immortal according to some very convincing (they really aren't) theories on the internet.

Here are 9 of the best pop culture conspiracy theories:

1. Stevie Wonder is not blind

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know who Stevie Wonder is. The legendary musician suffered retinal detachment when he was just a baby and was rendered blind. As far as we all know, he wasn't old enough to remember colors and what things around him looked like.

However, a few years ago, some people became convinced that the singer-songwriter isn't actually blind and he has been pretending all along.

These "Stevie Wonder is not blind" truthers base their claims on some of the performer's past actions which seemed to indicate that he had the ability to see. For instance, in 2010, he knocked over a mic then caught it mid-air during a performance with Paul McCartney, he attends a lot of basketball games and get courtside seats and he has been pictures taking photos of things.

2. Katy Perry is JonBenét Ramsey

At some point in the last three years a new conspiracy theory started making its rounds on the internet claiming that Katy Perry is actually JonBenét Ramsey.

According to the theory, the 6-year-old pageant queen wasn't murdered like we're made to believe. Her case remains unsolved because her death was faked and her identity was changed so she grew up to the Fireworks singer.

A video posted on YouTube back in December 2014 by a man named Dave Johnson is apparently the root of the speculation. "JonBenét Ramsey did not die, nobody died, nobody got hurt," Johnson said in the video. "But she was sacrificed: That sacrifice was in name only, and that sacrifice was to get something, and that something was to become a star."

3. Paul McCartney is dead

The conspiracy that the Beatles star had died and been replaced by a lookalike is probably one of the most popular ones to come out of the pop culture world.

The Gazette Review

The theory started to gather steam around the time of the band's 11th studio album, Abbey Road, was released in 1969 and to this day many people are convinced that the real Paul McCartney is dead. Everything from the album's cover to their live performances became a part of the strange claim.

4. Avril Lavigne has also been replaced

Turns out Paul McCartney isn't the only dead musician who has been replaced. According to some very observant individuals, a lookalike by the name of Melissa has taken the Canadian artist's place since 2003.

These theorists believe that the Sk8tr boy singer was cloned based on claims made by a Brazilian fanpage. Apparently, Avril died at the height of career, so her record company hired Melissa. Proof that Avril and Melissa are two different people include red carpet photos, change in facial features and clues Avril left behind in her songs.

5. Britney Spears was a government scapegoat

Do you recall Britney's 2007 meltdown? I'm sure you do, it's not something the internet is willing to let us forget and there's a theory that could explain why the random incident took place.

Conspiracists are certain that Britney was secretly working for the George W Bush administration and receiving monetary compensation for it. Her main role was to distract the public from the President's PR scandals by creating a public diversion that would be the focus of headlines. Those who believe the theory insist that everything from Britney's split from Kevin Federline to shaving her head was part of the big plan.

6. Beyonce Is Solange's Mother

Beyonce was born on September 4, 1981 which means she's currently 35 years old. Her younger sister, Solange, was born on June 24, 1986 so she's 31. But according to the internet none of this is true.

There's a rumor that Beyonce wasn't actually born in 1981. An employee who works for the Department of Health in Texas supposedly dug up her real birth certificate proving that her real birth date is 1974. When she was about 12 or 13 years old, she gave birth to a baby but her parents covered it up by pretending the baby was theirs.

That baby is believed to be Solange, which means that Beyonce is actually her mother. A website called Truth About Celebrities published "proof" obtained from Beyonce's cousin to confirm that the theory is true.

7. Stanley Kubrick helped fake the moon landing

People in the 1960s loved their conspiracy theories and the claim that the U.S. government faked the 1969 moon landing is one of them.

In 1999, the theory started circulating again following the death of the legendary director Stanley Kubrick. Conspiracists are convinced that the filmmaker aided the government in deceiving the public about the moon landing then proceeded to hide the clues in his movies like The Shining.

In 2015, YourNewsWire.com published a video which shows Kubrick admitting to his part in helping NASA's Apollo program. The video was later proven to be a hoax, but it didn't stop people from continuing to believe it.

8. Keanu Reeves is immortal

Rumor has it actor Reeves doesn't age because he is immortal and have lived through time with many identities.

The theory is based on multiple reasons including his ageless appearance and his striking resemblance to historical figures like Charlemagne and Paul Mounet, a doctor-turned-actor whose body was never found after he allegedly died in 1922.

People also often cite his out-of-this-world generosity (he donated over 60% of his Matrix earnings) to prove that he doesn't need material things because he has achieved immortality. He was once quoted saying, "Money is the last thing I think about. I could live on what I have already made for the next few centuries." That's gotta be proof enough, right?

9. CIA killed Marilyn Monroe

We're all so sure that Marilyn Monroe died by suicide after struggling with mental illness and substance abuse for years, but according to some conspiracy theorists, the truth is much deeper than that.

Back in 2015 rumors that the famous blonde was murdered by a CIA agent named Normand Hodges began to circulate online. The theory suggests that Monroe was killed because she knew too much about the existence of aliens and other government activities. After all, she was a friend of the Kennedy family.
