When you hear the term guard dog, what usually comes to mind? For me, we're talking Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Dobermans, American Bulldogs, essentially anything with enough teeth and mass to cause someone a whole world of hurt.

So when a woman was out walking her caretaker's Chihuahua Coco, she was assaulted by an unknown robber who struck her over the head with a glass bottle. The would-be robber likely thought little of the little pipsqueak of a dog walking with her. They got more than they bargained for, Coco attacked the assailant, biting him in the leg, which sent him running for his own protection.

The woman who had been walking Coco asked not to be identified, but she did confirm that she only received a bruise to the temple area of her head. Coco was rewarded with a pile of treats and some love from her owner.

But this isn't the first time that a chihuahua tried to punch above its weight class...

In 2011, a 10-pound Chihuahua in Altadena named Poco chased two men armed with a shotgun out of his owners store when they stormed in demanding the money in the cash register. The robbers did manage to take $200, but seeing Poco chase the bad-guys out of the store and clear across the street was likely worth the price of admission.

In Melbourne, Australia, Taco the Chihuahua was disturbed when an intruder broke into his owner's home at 3:30 in the morning. Taco started growling which woke up his owner, a 31-year-old woman. She got her partner out of bed who then chased the intruder out of the house. Three kids who were asleep in the house didn't wake up through the course of the event.
