Adventurous Couple Say "I Do" While Riding A Rollercoaster

Most girls grow up dreaming of their perfect wedding day - who they'll marry, what dress they'll wear, the venue, the decor, the menu and the guests. For bride Ashley Schiller, she also had to worry about staying composed during the ceremony that took place 208 feet above the ground.

Why?

Because Ashley and her new husband,Thom, decided to tie the knot on a roller coaster.

Their choice of unconventional venue wasn't a spur of the moment idea. The 25-year-old bride had dreamt of a roller coaster wedding as a child ever since she watched a Travel Channel show about adventurous weddings. Luckily, Thom was also sold on the idea after the two made a trip to Cedar Point in Ohio while dating.

The Rhode Island couple discovered that their dream amusement park celebration would be cheaper than a traditional one, so it was a no-brainer to get married at Six Flags New England.

"Everybody thought I was crazy," said Ashley. "They honestly thought I was nuts."

Thankfully, the adventurous duo's big day turned out to be mishap free and their guests had a great time at one of the most unique weddings of the year.

"It surpassed my expectations, it really did," Thom told the Boston Globe. "Leading up to it, everybody was kind of wishy-washy. But by the end of the day, everyone was like, "˜This is one of the best weddings.'"

On July 10, the high school sweethearts reserved the park before it opened so the wedding party and their 140 guests had the entire venue to themselves. Ashley's father walked her to the Superman ride's exit ramp to kick off the ceremony.

The thrill-seeking couple exchanged rings before hopping on the 77 miles per hour roller coaster to say "I do" and seal the marriage with a kiss.

"He [the priest] timed it almost perfectly," explained Thom, 29. "There was maybe half a second between him finishing the last bit of his speech, and then us going over, screaming "˜I do!' on the way down."

Ashley and Thom did a few more rounds on the ride to accommodate all of their guests before Thom started to feel queasy and called it quits.

"I would've kept going," says Ashley, "but I was so worried about Thom."

The bumpy ceremony was then followed with a reception in the picnic area catered by Six Flags. The buffet menu included pulled pork, hot dogs, and barbecue chicken. Just like any other wedding, there was a cake, dancing, bouquet throwing and a garter toss. As for the after party, guests were invited to hop on more rides and enjoy the water park.

"It turned out to be a wonderful day," mother-of-the-bride, Mary Schiller told Providence Journal. "Everybody had a really good time."

The newlyweds went to the Maryland's Six Fags America for their honeymoon. They have another trip planned for this month to take the ring bearer, Thom's nephew, to Six Flags in Upstate New York for his birthday.
