Even though it's recommended that we get about 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep, it's not always realistic or possible for many of us.
Maybe we've got a young baby that needs constant feeding throughout the night, or a temperamental two-year old that's afraid of the boogey man. Or, perhaps you've just found yourself trapped in the five-hour-a-night habit that can't be broken.
Either way, one of the first signs of sleeplessness is puffy eyes.
You might have tried the cold spoon method, and it works - to a point. But it's kind of awkward and there's nothing soothing about cold metal spoons against your skin.
If the spoon method kind of worked, you'll probably have great success with this DIY cold compress.
You will need:
-A small plastic zip lock bag-Corn syrup-Food or natural coloring (optional)
- Just fill a small ziplock bag with corn syrup and pop it in the freezer over night. The high sugar content in corn syrup will prevent the liquid from freezing solid.
- In the morning, take the bag out of the freezer and place it on the counter for 5-10 minutes while you prepare breakfast.
- It should soften just enough that you can sit back and relax with the cold compress over your eyes for about 5 minutes.
