Britain's Courgette Shortage Is A Bonafide Crisis

A veritable crisis has struck Britain: they don't have enough zucchinis. And people are losing their minds.

Being deemed the #CourgetteCrisis on social media, people are finding it damn near impossible to get their hands on a courgette (zucchini) anywhere.

There's a couple factors that play into the shortage. First is the weather: Italy and Spain have been hit with severe cold weather, which means the crops aren't growing. Another problem is the increased demand for spiralized zucchini, a healthier replacement for pasta.

"There has been severe weather in Southern Europe but we are working with our suppliers to maintain supply for our customers," a spokesperson for supermarket Sainsbury's said in a statement.

It may not seem like a huge deal, but many clean-eaters choose zucchini as a healthy alternative and, well....they're not taking this shortage well.

Others, however, don't see what the big deal is.

Hopefully this #CourgetteCrisis gets sorted out soon. Stay strong, Britain.
