Can you believe that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is turning 20?
I don't want to even start to think about it, because that means I am 20 years older from the days when I would watch the Scooby Gang gather to fight the monsters of the underworld.
Regardless this 20 year reunion set up by Entertainment Weekly has us experiencing all the Nostalgia of the 90's that we remember loving, oh so much.
On set, you had the whole gang back in action, and we couldn't be more excited!
Nothing feels better than seeing Buffy and Angels back together again.
Or Buffy and Spike, depending on which team you fall under:
“People ask who I thought was Buffy’s ultimate and I get a lot of hate and a lot of death threats — seriously,” says Gellar. “There was something so beautiful to me about the Buffy and Angel story. I think that Spike understood a different part of who Buffy was and I think she needed to understand that and discover. But for me as Buffy, I think Angel.”
Since playing Buffy, Sarah Michelle Gellar has on screen doing TV Series like The Crazy Ones, American Dad and The Simpsons.
Since 2005, David Boreanaz has played the lead character role alongside Emily Deschanel in the TV Series Bones. Previous to that, Buffy fans will remember his spin-off show Angel that aired for 5 seasons along Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
James Marsters has had a healthy acting career since leaving Buffy, appearing in Smallville, Lie to Me, Numb3rs and of course, Angel.
From Willow Rosenberg, teenage witch, to Lily Aldrin in How I Met Your Mother, Alyson Hannigan has been busy on screen. We all remember her roles in American Pie as if they were yesterday.
We all fell in love with Nicholas Brendon after he played Xander Harris, one of the original members of the Scooby gang. This beloved actor has gone on to doing TV movies and TV series such as Private Practice and Kitchen Confidential.
Seth Green played Willow's original love until she found Tara played by Amber Benson. Seth has gone on to do the Austin Power Movies, The Italian Job and a variety of TV Series appearances. Amber could be found onscreen on Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural and Twisted Tales.
After Buffy the Vampire Slayer Charisma Carpenter went on to play in Angel for its 5 seasons. Afterwards she had a plethora of work including Charmed, Veronica Mars, The Expendables and Burn Notice.
The cast paid special tribute to Anthony Stewart Head who was the only member not to be able to make it to the reunion photo shoot.
EW have worked hard to have my presence felt - in a portrait on set and an interview. Here's to 20 years and a wonderful group of people x— Anthony Stewart Head (@AnthonySHead) March 30, 2017
There's been chatter about Buffy spinoffs as the show wrapped up, but nothing ever came to fruition, but Head is still open to exploring his character should Joss Whedon be. A Giles spinoff was originally planned for 2008 according to E Online.
"You know what? I would do it. I would do anything to work with Joss again. He's a wonderful storyteller, a great director, and a lovely man," Head said when asked about a Giles spinoff. "I would love to, you know? Whether it's Ripper or something else..."
So how does the cast feel about a Buffy The Vampire Slayer Revival? They are split.
Alyson Hannigan: “I think we should do the Buffy cartoon.”
James Marsters: “I think if Joss is helming it, then hell yeah. If not, then hell no.”
Charisma Carpenter: “I think the fans would just go crazy if something like that would happen. It would just make so many people happy.”
Sarah Michelle Gellar: “At a certain point, when things are magical, you don’t want to go back and Godfather III it—right?” jokes Gellar. “I’m sure the fans are incredibly disappointed to hear that answer, but I think they’d be more disappointed if we created something and it didn’t live up to the expectation because the expectation is so incredibly high. And I love that it can live in comic form and graphic novels. There are so many worlds it can live in.”
Would you watch a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Revival?
