Eggs are such a unique food. They're the perfect breakfast food on their own, they're so important for baking, and they can be used in every meal from breakfast to dinner and even dessert.
So if you're on a strict vegan diet that doesn't let you enjoy eggs, lots of tasty meals are suddenly off limits.
You'll have to get used to breakfast without scrambled eggs or omelets, and baking a tray of muffins suddenly becomes a lot harder. Until now, vegans have had to substitute other foods like bananas for eggs, but the taste just isn't the same.
Thankfully, British health food makers Holland and Barrett are now selling Vegan Egg, a completely egg-free substitute that tastes - and looks - like the real thing.
These fake eggs are 100% plant based, mainly made out of agal flower (basically ground up seaweed). They come in a regular looking egg carton, but inside there are actually packets of powder that mix with water.
One pack makes about the same amount of food as 10-12 eggs, but they're pricey. One box of these will cost you about $10. Hey, nobody ever said eating healthy was cheap.
While it may feel strange making your scrambled eggs out of powder, just think of it this way: no more gooey mess or broken eggshells to clean up.
If you want to get your hands on some of these, you can check your local health food store or buy directly from Holland and Barrett's website. You don't even need to be a vegan to try them - Vegan Egg is full of extra fiber and amino acids that regular eggs are missing, so you can swap your family's scrambled eggs for this healthy substitute and they may never even realize it!
