Carrie Underwood Needed More Than 40 Stitches After November Fall

ABC News

With her charismatic persona and upbeat attitude, it's hard to hear Carrie Underwood discuss the aftermath of her traumatic fall.

Underwood fell down the steps outside her home in November of last year, which left the country singer with a broken wrist, and severe cuts all over her face.

She released the extent of her injuries on her blog on Sunday, revealing she needed between 40 to 50 stitches.

"There is also another part of the story that I haven't been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up," Underwood wrote. "It's crazy how a freak random accident can change your life."

"In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I'll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [Underwood's husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in," she added.

While the accident caused her to also pull out of the Country Rising benefit show two days later, that was not the extent of her suffering.

Due to the significant amount of stitches, Underwood said her appearance may be slightly different, but she's looking forward to what 2018 will bring.

"I am determined to make 2018 amazing and I want to share things with you along the way," Underwood concluded. "And when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different."

Famous celebrities have also taken to Twitter to show their support to the American Idol alum.

Whatever Underwood looks like, her inner beauty is guaranteed to always shine through!
