Because people are the worst, someone cruelly covered this cat in duct tape and left him for dead in a backyard.
Authorities in Traverse City, Michigan are currently trying to find the person who wrapped the animal on his head, chest, and legs.
Grand Traverse County animal control officer, Deb Zerafa, was called to the scene when someone found the poor animal.
"I could tell that the cat was very close to death," she said. "I drove very, very quickly to the Grand Traverse Veterinary Clinic and went in and said I need help now and a flurry of activity came from the back."
It took hours to remove all the tape, thanks to the help of many rescuers at the vet. The cat has been named Ronnie and is expected to pull through.
Dr. Jane Alexander, a vet at the clinic where Ronnie was rescued, posted a Facebook live video to update people on his condition. In the video, she mentions that Ronnie was loaded with fleas and had a tumor on his ear, in addition to all the injuries from the duct tape.
"He has the best heart and he has a will to live," Alexander said while Ronnie, "and we plan on doing surgery on him to remove the tumor on his ear as soon as he is stable enough to undergo surgery. That will take a while. He is eating very well and purring through this whole ordeal."
