CHiPs Is Coming Back - But This Time It's A Little Bit Different

Apparently the appeal of reboots has not ended. Remember the 70s/80s hit show CHiPs? Well it's coming back, this time with an R rating and from the looks of the new trailer, a lot more explosions.

The new movie just released its first trailer and it's quite a bit different from the original. It is being starred in, produced, directed and written by Dax Shepard with Michael Peña as his partner. How will the new version compare the the original? Well, here is who is in the remake.

Michael Peña is Frank 'Ponch' Poncherello

Goodbye Erik Estrada! From the look of the trailer, it seems like Ponch is actually an FBI agent undercover and a bit unlike the original.

Dax Shepard is Jon Baker

Once again, the preview kind of hints that the names are really the only thing that translated from the original, because Jon Baker is apparently not the "straight-laced" guy he was back in the day.

The rest of the cast has been changed to new characters. Replacing the old Sergeant with a new one, and then building up the characters from the ground up. The rest of the cast includes:

Jessica McNamee as Lindsey Taylor

Adam Brody is Clay Allen

Ryan Hansen as Brian Grieves

Vincent D'Onofrio as Vic Brown

Kristen Bell (Character name not announced yet)

Maya Rudolph as Sgt. Hernandez

Adam Rodriguez as Shamus

What do you think about this new R-Rated version of CHiPs? It's going to come out on March 24th, 2017 so you should check out the trailer and see what is coming.

Share if you remember the original show!
