Doctor Dressed As The 'Joker' Delivers Baby On Halloween

Would you trust The Joker to deliver your baby?

A couple in Paris, Tennessee, had faith in Batman's archenemy when the soon-to-be mother of three went into early labor on Halloween night.

Dr. Paul Locus, a doctor at the Henry County Medical Center was dressed in full Joker attire, -complete with greasy green hair and a face full of makeup - when he delivered Brittany Selph's daughter, Oaklyn.

"My wife's due date was Nov. 5, but that obviously didn't happen. She woke up Halloween morning to her water leaking," Brittany's husband, Justin Selph told People Magazine. "That's when we found out he was dressed for Halloween that day, as The Joker. We found it very humorous and a little excited that we would have a baby delivered by The Joker."

After determining it would be hours until Brittany's actual delivery, Locus took a quick break to return home and hand out candy, and would return in traditional medical garb.

Since Locus had been the couple's obstetrician throughout the entire pregnancy, the couple felt comfortable to let him know they would be thrilled if he also returned in full costume.

"We couldn't help but laugh when he walked in the room!" Justin told Huffington Post in an email. "My wife, being [an] open-minded woman, with a sense of humor, thought it would be hilarious to have such a unique delivery."

The parents were excited with their newborn's one-of-a-kind delivery, which also relieved some of Brittany's stress.

"There my wife is, staring The Joker straight in the eyes while delivering our baby, what a sight!" Justin said. "I was holding her leg up, and snapping pictures! I was going to go Facebook Live, but the nurse cut me off!"

However, Justin did mange to post a video following his youngest child's birth:

"He was a great sport about the whole situation, and took photos with our family," Justin said.

Justin further told Buzzfeed he jokingly hoped his wife would join in the fun and dress up as Harley Quinn.

"I actually joked with my wife earlier in the day, after we had first seen that he was dressed that way, that I should go get some face paint and fix her up as Harley Quinn, The Joker's girlfriend," he said. "But unfortunately we didn't."

The following day, Locus checked in with the couple, continuing the The Joker gag.

"The next morning, he came in to check on Brittany, and he said "˜Sorry I couldn't make it in last night, glad to see the delivery went well,' Joking of course,'" Justin said. "He also gave her a card of congratulations, and he signed it "˜Dr. Joker.'"

In a statement to Huffington Post, Rhonda Crossett, director of HCMC's Women's Center, said it's not unusual for Locus to go above and beyond for his patients.

"Dr. Locus has mentioned he has been dressing up for his patients for as many years as he has been practicing," Crosset said. "He loves going the extra mile to give them a unique and enjoyable delivery experience."
