Some Of The Duggars Actually Have Jobs, Believe It Or Not

You can criticize the Duggar family all you want, but the brood does something most families in American can't: they live debt-free. The Duggars don't use credit cards or loans, only paying cash for things if they can afford it. Yes, this includes houses!

"We saved up and paid cash for our second house 18 years ago, then spent a year remodeling to get it fixed up to be livable," Jim Bob Duggar said. "But then we didn't have house payments. We don't have any debt, so it makes it easier to live."

This decision to live debt-free has been passed down to their kids (or so they say), so how do the Duggars manage to make enough money to support their lifestyle. Let's just say some are more stable than others!

Jim Bob and Michelle

Duggar Family

Let's start with mom and dad Duggar. Jim Bob Duggar had a successful career as a politician before retiring and becoming a real estate agent. He currently has a successful commercial and residential real estate business, and also goes on public speaking tours. He's been known to lobby for Republican candidates during election periods, as well.

As for Michelle, her job is keeping the family in line! The mom of 19(!) does all the bargain hunting for the family.

"In the past, Michelle's gone to garage sales and bought shoes for a dollar," Jim Bob revealed. "We probably spend less on clothing than what a family of four would spend. We spend a lot of money on food "” $3,000 a month on food and diapers and that type of stuff."

So what about the kids?

Josh Duggar

PEOPLE

Perhaps the most scandalous Duggar, Josh can no longer rely on his TLC paycheck to make ends meet. After it was revealed that he not only molested his younger sisters, but also cheated on his wife, Anna, the network completely cut the eldest Duggar out of their plans.

Now, Josh and Anna rely on his job as a used car salesman to pay the bills. However, sources say he's not very good at it.

"He lets this guy test drive one of his cars and forgot to take down the guy's driver's license," a source said. "The guy drove away with the car and never returned! He just stole it!"

Anna doesn't bring in money, but she keeps busy as a stay-at-home mom to their five children.

John-David

Maybe John-David hasn't been married yet because he's so busy with work! In addition to getting his pilot's license, one half of the oldest Duggar twins is a Washington County constable as well as a construction worker. According to the family, he's also a landlord.

"Our son John David has got a job and a home," Michelle Duggar boasted in a blog post. "He's leasing that home out as rental income and putting the money aside. He's also getting his pilot license right now and he's been a fireman and a police officer, and now he's a constable. So he's definitely at that place in life where he's ready to be a husband and a provider and he would be open to courting a young lady if he felt she would be the one for him."

As for Jana Duggar, well her career has been a bit of a mystery...

Jana

TLC

Jana is often pitied due to being the eldest sister but still isn't married. However, it's not like Jana has nothing going on in her life without a man. She recently purchased an old tattoo parlor for $95,000 and reports claim she'll be opening her own business. As for what that business is, it's unclear. Jana also co-wrote the book "Growing Up Duggar" with her sisters Jinger, Jess, and Jill.

The only reference to Jana's career was made in a birthday post in 2015.

"Jana is a concert pianist and is involved in many ministries," Michelle wrote. "We are so blessed to have such wonderful daughters and sons."

However, many fans pointed out that Jana's not a concert pianist at all, and just plays piano at her church.

Jill & Derick Dillard

US Magazine

The Duggar-Dillards are an interesting case when it comes to income. Jill studied to be a midwife before she was married, but once she became a wife that seemed to go out the window. Derick had a job as an accountant at Walmart before becoming a member of the reality TV family, and now he's a full-time student at Cross Church College Ministry. He and Jill both worked as missionaries in Central America, but the couple came under fire when fans accused them of living off the donations they asked for.

Chances are, one (or both) of the stars will have to find a job relatively soon, seeing as Derick was fired from Counting On after his controversial comments.

Maybe he can go job hunting with Ben and Jessa...

Ben & Jessa Seewald

Starcasm

The Duggar-Seewalds were married extremely young, with Ben being only 19 and Jessa just 21. When they tied the knot, Ben was finishing up his associate's degree in political science, but it seems that when he found himself on reality TV, he had no desire to pursue anything else. Ben doesn't currently have a job, unless you count occasional handyman jobs for Jim Bob's real estate business. Jessa is a stay-at-home mom to their two young children, and did write that book with her sisters, but no one can imagine it brings in a lot of money.

The couple, for now, is going to have to hope that Counting On can last with Derick so they can keep living off their TV paychecks.

Jinger & Jeremy Vuolo

Inquisitr

Whoever predicted that Jinger Duggar would be the one to break away from the family was totally right. The sixth born Duggar married former soccer player Jeremy Vuolo, even though he butted heads with the family, at first. The Vuolos now live in Texas, away from the family, where Jeremy is a pastor. Jinger works as a wedding photographer, according to the family, but whatever she's doing she seems to be happy. The couple posts pictures of their adventures on social media, and that includes Jinger wearing pants, which is a big no-no in the Duggar family. Her husband doesn't seem to think it's an issue, though.

"Jesus does not save people to make them wear skirts. It is your liberty as to whether you dress modestly with a modest pair of pants, or with a skirt, or with a T-shirt, or with a blouse," Vuolo said. "It is not your liberty, women, to wear sensual, seductive clothing that is designed to draw the attention of your brothers."

Money isn't a huge issue for the couple, who have been married just over a year, as they don't currently have any children to provide for.

But what about the couple that everyone is pretty sure conceived their baby before marriage?

Joy-Ann & Austin Forsyth

In Touch Weekly

It's probably not a good thing to pray for gossip from the Duggars, but that's where we stand with the Duggar-Forsyth duo. The couple was originally supposed to get married in October 2017, but it was suddenly pushed up to May for no apparent reason. Not long after their wedding, the couple revealed they were expecting, which prompted a lot of people to speculate that they had actually conceived before marriage. This, coupled with Joy-Anna's large baby bump has sent Duggar fans into a frenzy.

As for work, the couple are shaping up to be the next Chip and Joanna Gaines. Austin is a house flipper, and has been for a while, and his wife often helps on the projects he's working on. Joy-Anna has made money in the past by speaking at conferences, but she doesn't have a steady income other than her paycheck from TLC.

Joseph & Kendra Duggar

Duggar Family Blog

The newlyweds and soon-to-be parents are going to have to find jobs, and quick! Joseph, 22, and Kendra, 19, don't have stable jobs (that we know of). Joseph took a one-year course at Crown College on Bible study, but he doesn't seem to have put it to practical use. According to the Duggar family blog, however, Joseph has some things up his sleeve.

"Joseph just completed a year at Crown Bible College and is now back working with the Duggar family business doing construction," they wrote. "He now plans to acquire his real estate license and his CDL license."

He also appears on Counting On, but again, with Derick (and probably Jill) leaving the show, it seems the end could be near for the Duggars on television.

The other Duggar children are too young to have any set careers planned out, so it's a good thing mom and dad are so money-savvy!

Meagan has an intense love for Netflix, napping, and carbs.
