Papa Johns To The Rescue! Family Sends Pizza To Check On Grandma After Hurricane Matthew

After Hurricane Matthew hit his grandmother's home state of Florida, Eric Olsen was unable to get in contact with her because he lived all the way in Nebraska. Claire Olsen lives in Palm Coast, Florida and was hit by the storm for two days. Eric concern was growing because the last he heard from her was just before her power went out. He needed to know if she was safe or not but the police weren't answering. His solution to get in touch with her was a little unconventional, but it totally worked! Who did he call when he was worried about his loved one?  Papa Johns Pizza.

He did of course try the police department, but when no one was answering he moved onto his last resort.

"People are asking why I didn't call the police and ask them to do a wellness check, but I did. Trust me, Papa John's was a last resort." - Eric Olsen

When he ordered the pizza, he added special instructions asking the delivery driver to call him as soon as he arrived and hand the phone to Claire so he could speak with her.

It was an unusual request but the delivery man, Lance Tyler, was happy to do it. When he arrived at Claire's house she almost didn't answer the door because she knew she hadn't ordered the pizza. He assured Claire that her grandson Eric placed the order and was on the phone, so she was able to speak with him and enjoy her pizza. Tyler says that "her expression was just priceless" when she finally was able to speak to Eric.

Check out the video below that shows the sweet grandmother's adorable reaction to her grandsons gesture.
