Giant Cat Left At Shelter Is Adopted Almost Immediately

This is the best possible outcome for a shelter cat: getting adopted within hours of being given up.

Edgar, this giant cat, was surrendered to the Humane Society when his owner could no longer keep him. Apparently, Edgar didn't get along well with his owner's grandchildren. Now if it were me, I'd be looking into adoption for the kids (KIDDING, kind of.)

The staff at the Humane Society were taken aback by Edgar's sheer size. He's a big kitty!

The 9-year-old cat is a whopping 21lbs. He's a gentle giant, though, and the staff at the shelter couldn't believe how relaxed he was.

"Edgar was so sweet coming into the shelter and handled his intake process with shining stars," said Michelle Fidler, director of animal care at the Humane Society of Carroll County.

Since Edgar was obviously huge, the Humane Society figured people would want to see a picture. And they were right. The post has over 13,000 shares and more than one million people have seen it. Within hours, Edgar became Internet famous and a local woman decided she had to have him.

"As soon as I saw his picture, I was in awe," Jenna Schwartz, Edgar's new mom, told The Dodo. "I've never seen a cat that big before, he really catches your eye. He's gorgeous!"

Edgar is in a full house now, with a cat sibling Loki and a dog sibling Thor. It's basically a big ol' love fest. And Edgar wouldn't want it any other way.
