Girl Scout cookies are a national treasure. They can change lives. Girl Scout cookie sales trace back to almost 100 years ago in 1917 (seriously). They've basically been on a non-stop roll ever since. Check out this vintage Girl Scout cookie TV commercial and tell me you wouldn't go an order 50 boxes immediately.
Just...wow. Cut to 2016 where we have so many cookies to choose from! Here is the extensive list from the Girl Scouts themselves:
- Thin Mints
- Caramel deLites/Samoas
- Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs
- Do-si-dos/Peanut Butter Sandwich
- Cranberry Citrus Crisps
- Savannah Smiles
Say hello to the new s'mores Girl Scout cookies, everyone! The first one is a graham cookie, dipped twice in crème, and coated in delicious chocolate. The second? A straight-up s'mores sandwich cookie. It's pretty safe to say the Girl Scouts this year will be making a pretty penny in cookie sales. Not that it's ever been a problem before.
And, as just a fun little side-note about Girl Scouts: Not only are these young girls learning the importance of a hard-earned dollar, but Girl Scouts USA has even launched a digital platform called Digital Cookie that allows scouts to sell online. Plus they learn about marketing, e-commerce and app usage. Insane, right? It's basically teaching young girls how to run their own business which is totally rad.
So if any of you know someone selling Girl Scout cookies this year, hit me up.
