Groom's Photoshoot Takes An Unexpected Turn When He Jumps Into The River

Fate has a way of bringing the perfect people together at the exact moment when they need each other the most.

In all of human history, we've come up with some pretty good theories about how this happens, but one thing we can all agree on is that it's pretty amazing.

Seven years ago, when Brittany Ross met Clayton Cook, she was in the right place at the right time.

Little did they know that fate would set in motion a plan to position the happy couple perfectly - only this time, it would be to save a life...

At first, Brittany admits that she thought Clay had jumped into the river as a joke, but then she quickly realized what was really happening.

"He sprung into action incredibly quick" said photographer, Darren Hatt. "Almost as soon as I realized what was going on, he had already saved the day."

Hatt had been photographing Brittany's solo shots when he was alerted by Brittany's shout. The photographer turned in time to snap a few shots of Clay as he pulled a little boy from the water.

Three small children had been following the couple as they played along the river's edge. While Clay watched his new bride pose for her pictures, the little ones inched closer and closer to the water.

He had a sixth sense that something might go wrong, so he kept a close eye on them. Within moments, the little boy had tumbled into the water and he was struggling to stay afloat.

"His face was underwater and he was fighting, like he was really fighting," he told CTV News. "Luckily, he was only a little guy and I just sort of hopped him up."

An older sibling quickly came over and brought the three children away from the water's edge.

The couple tells Global News, Canada that they were relieved to have been in the right place at the right time.

"That's Clay, like that's Clay to me," said Brittany. "It's something he would just instinctively do."

After assuring that everyone was alright, the couple continued to celebrate their special day with close friends and family.

After spending many "chapters" of their lives together, the couple say they are looking forward to opening the new chapter of marriage.

The story of Clayton's wedding-day heroics will certainly make for interesting reading in their very own book of love! Congratulations to the happy couple!
