He Gave Her Half His Liver, Then He Asked For Her Heart

Christopher Dempsey was just an ordinary man doing a good deed for a friend in need. Little did he know that his generosity would put him directly in the path of the woman of his dreams!

In 2015, the 38-year-old man from Frankfort, Ill., overheard his coworker talking about a cousin in desperate need of a liver transplant. Dempsey listened intently to the conversation and decided to get himself tested.

"I just thought to myself, I would want someone to help me or my family in that situation," he told BBC.

As it turns out, Dempsey was a perfect match for his coworker's cousin, 27-year-old Heather Krueger. The young woman was given a 50 percent chance of surviving two more months without a transplant, so when she got the call from Dempsey, she gratefully accepted.

The two met for lunch and hit it off almost instantly!

"We were going out looking for donations for a benefit, and I just started thinking, she's a really nice girl, she is somebody I would like to get to know," said Dempsey.

The surgery at the University of Illinois Hospital in March 2015 was a success and the two officially became a couple shortly afterward.

Eight months later, he proposed and the two were married 19 months after that! Life has a wonderful way of working out for the kindhearted and these two look like they couldn't be happier!

"I never would have thought in a million years when I agreed to all this that I would marry her. It is amazing."

It would appear that timing is everything! Christopher Dempsey happened to be in the right place at the right time, and his good heart led him straight to the woman of his dreams. Some might call that destiny!
