8 Glorious Spam Recipes for Your Family Dinners

Spam can be found in every grocery store on the planet, you might even find it in corner stores and gas stations as well. This isn't a fad nor is it a gimmick, this canned meat can stay in your cupboard for years, so start stalk pilling!

This salty canned meat can be used in a myriad of different ways and well I've put together 8 stellar recipes to get your inner spam chef brain going!

Ingredients:

Spam Wellington:

  • 1 can Spam
  • 1 sheet Puff pastry
  • 1 lb cremini mushroom, roughly chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 egg yolk

Spam taco:

  • 1 can spam
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 jalapeno
  • 1 cup black beans
  • ½ cup corn
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Cheese
  • Guacamole
  • Hard taco shells

Spam meatballs:

  • 1 12-ounce can SPAM® Classic
  • 6 slices uncooked bacon
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 jar pasta sauce
  • Spaghetti

Chicken Fried Spam:

  • 1 can spam
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoon flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • Oil for frying
  • White gravy, scallion

Spam Sushi:

  • 1 can of spam
  • Sushi rice
  • Nori
  • 1 cup soy
  • ½ cup mirin
  • ¼ sugar

Spam chips:

  • 1 can spam
  • Cheese sauce for dipping

Sticky Spam & Pineapple bake:

  • 1 can spam
  • 1 pineapple
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Teriyaki sauce, sugar, oil

Upside-down Spam-cake:

  • 1 box moist yellow cake mix
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 3 egg
  • 1-2 cans Spam 1 cans sliced pineapple rings, drainedMaraschino cherries without stems, if desired

Directions:

Spam Wellington:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. Remove spam from can and pat dry with a paper towel.
  3. Fry spam over high heat until crispy, set aside to cool.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and add mushrooms, onion, garlic, thyme, butter, oil and season with salt and pepper. Cook for approximately 10 minutes then cool mixture.
  5. On a piece of plastic wrap lay your sheet of puff pastry, smear or mushroom mixture onto pastry leaving a 2 inch border without mixture. Place spam in the middle and carefully wrap with puff pastry and place on a prepared baking sheet.
  6. Brush with egg yolk and bake for 30 minutes or until golden.

Spam taco:

  1. Remove spam from can and pat dry with a paper towel. Cut into fry sized pieces.
  2. Heat oil over medium heat and add spam fries and taco seasoning, cook for 2 minutes and add beans, corn and jalapenos, remove from heat.
  3. Assemble tacos with all your favorite toppings.

Spam meatballs:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Put the SPAM®, bacon and pork in a food processor and pulse briefly to chop fine. Do not puree.
  2. Place the mixture in a large bowl with the remaining meatball ingredients and mix well to combine. Using your hands, shape mixture into balls, 1 to 2 inches in diameter. Arrange in a casserole pan.
  3. Cover with sauce and bake for 15 minutes, turn them over and bake 15 minutes more.

Chicken Fried Spam:

  1. Remove spam from can and pat dry with a paper towel. Slice into 1 inch slices.
  2. In a medium bowl combine flour, cornstarch and garlic powder, in a separate bowl add beaten eggs.
  3. Cover spam slices in flour mixture, tap off any extra flour and dip into egg and finally back into flour. Make sure it's all coated and place into preheated fryer until golden and crispy.

Spam Sushi:

  1. Remove spam from can and pat dry with a paper towel. Slice into 1 inch slices.
  2. Add to frying pan over medium high heat.
  3. Meanwhile add soy, mirin and sugar to a small bowl ass proceed to glaze spam piece while frying.
  4. Line the spam can with plastic wrap and and push ½ cup of cooked rice into the can, place a slice of fried spam over it and pusha down, remove spam and rice from can and wrap in a slice of nori.
  5. Enjoy!

Spam chips:

  1. Remove spam from can and pat dry with a paper towel. Slice as thin as possible and place in a fryer preheated to 350 degrees. Fry until browned and firm. Cool chips on a paper lined plate and serve with dip.

Sticky Spam & Pineapple bake:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Place all ingredients on a lightly greased and tin foil lined baking sheet, toss all of it together and bake until spam is crispy and pineapple is caramelized.
  3. Serve with rice.

Upside-down Spam-cake:

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. In 9-inch square pan, melt butter in oven.
  2. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over melted butter.
  3. Arrange pineapple slices over brown sugar. Place cherry in center of each pineapple slice.
  4. Cut Spam into 1/4 inch thick slices and lay 1-2 slices over each pineapple ring.
  5. In medium bowl, beat remaining ingredients with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly.
  6. Beat on high speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.Pour batter over Spam, pineapple and cherries.
  7. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Immediately place heatproof serving plate upside down over pan; turn plate and pan over.
