How to Take Adorable Baby Christmas Photos Using Only Your Phone

Forget hiring a professional photographer to take your baby or children's Christmas photos this year! All you need are some easy-to-find props (that you probably already have around the house) and your smartphone.

For our photo shoot we took 4 different photos using items we already had lying around. Here's what you will need to recreate our photos!

Floating Christmas Ornaments

Savvy

For this photo you will need:

  • Fishing Line
  • Broom Handle
  • Christmas Ornaments
  • White Bed Sheet
  • String Lights or Battery Powered Fairy Lights
  • Santa Hat

Savvy

We placed the white bed sheet on the fireplace mantel and used heavy books to hold it in place. Next we strung lights down the bed sheet and used fishing line to tie the ornaments to the broom handle. You won't be able to see the fishing line in the photo, which makes it seem as though the ornaments are floating in mid-air! It's Christmas magic!

JOY

Savvy

For this photo you will need:

  • Large wooden letters spelling "JOY" (we got ours from Michaels)
  • Blanket (any color you like

Savvy

Place the blanket and baby on the couch. Place the "J" and "Y" beside your baby and give her the "O" letter to hold. You'll have to work quickly to get the shot before your baby decides they want to squirm away!

Bringing Home the Christmas Tree

Savvy

For this photo you will need:

  • Children's toy car
  • Fake snow (we found ours at Michaels)
  • Large Christmas Bow
  • Small real or fake Christmas tree
  • Ribbon

Savvy

This photo is adorable! Start by sticking the large bow to the front of the car and tie the tree to the roof using ribbon. Place baby inside the car, toss some fake snow and snap away!

Christmas Lights

Savvy

For this photo you will need:

  • Large white paper (to reflect light)
  • 1-2 strands of Christmas lights

Savvy

This photo is super simple to take! Start by arranging your lights on the floor, leaving space for where your baby will lay down. Place your baby in the empty space beside the lights and start taking the photos! Get Mom or Dad to hold a large sheet of white paper to reflect more light towards the baby (more light = better looking photos).
