When shop workers noticed pig ears, beef bones and some packets of dog treats had gone missing from their South Carolina Dollar General store, they immediately scanned their surveillance cameras.

Sure enough, they spotted the culprit - a canine kleptomaniac named Cato.

The sneaky Siberian Husky lives nearby and managed to get free from his leash and wandered into the local store.

The thieving Siberian Husky managed to get into the Dollar General store as he snuck in with some customers.

Store Manager Anastasia Polson told FOX Carolina, "We didn't know it happened because he just snuck in with the customers."

His owner, Holly Darden, was out walking him when Cato got off his leash and raced towards the Dollar General.

At about 9:38, Cato the klepto is then spotted walking up to the sliding doors at the Dollar General and sneaking in with some customers.

A few minutes later, store employees spot Cato entering the store and decided to follow him outside.

The thieving husky disappeared around to the back of the store where they spotted him burying his treasures in the dirt.

Polson told Fox Carolina that she called the police and Cato was briefly taken to the pound. Soon after, he was reunited with his owner.

It appears that this isn't Cato's first crime. His owner, Holly Darden, explained that her mischiveous dog had gotten into other stores in the area as well.

But Cato isn't stealing out of hunger, "Look at him, he's fat!" said Darden. "Yes! I feed him, there's food in there. There's treats in there."

Cato the klepto just steals for the fun of it.

A police report was filled out against the cheeky canine, it was just for fun. When they returned Cato to his owner, they told her it was their "best arrest ever."

The store owners won't press charges or require payment for damaged items.
