The last few months have been tumultuous for country star Jason Aldean and his wife Brittany Kerr.

The singer was headlining the final day of the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas when Stephen Paddock fired bullets down on the crowd from a window of the nearby Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

The 64-year-old's rampage claimed the lives of 59 people, injured 527 and traumatized thousands, including Aldean and his wife, who was seven months pregnant with their first child.

Kerr, Aldean and their "road family" hid behind the stage equipement as the bullets flew past them. Thankfully, they sustained no physical injuries.

"All I could think was, "˜I never even got to hold my baby,'" Kerr wrote on Instagram. "As you can imagine my first instinct was to run to [Jason] and his was the same."

She continued, "We were the lucky ones. I can't put into words the pain and heartache we feel for the ones who are no longer with us."

Aldean also spoke out in the aftermath of the senseless tragedy, urging people to come together as one so the world can be a safe place to raise the future generation.

"Something has changed in this country and in this world lately that is scary to see," he continued. "This world is becoming the kind of place I am afraid to raise my children in."

Over the last few weeks, Aldean and Kerr have been trying to move on, but the singer admitted in his first interview since the mass shooting that "it's something I'll never forget."

Now, less than a month after his interview, Aldean and Kerr have a reason to get excited about the future. On December 1, the couple welcomed their first child, and they've chosen an adorable country-inspired name.

Aldean announced the arrival of their baby boy with a photo and touching caption on Instagram a few days ago.

"So blessed to see my little man come into the world. In a year that has been a rollercoaster ride, this is what it's all about. I can't wait to see what life has in store for this kid. Memphis Aldean...9lb 5 oz. #mamwasarockstar," wrote Aldean.

While baby Memphis's name may come as a surprise to some people, Aldean did give people a heads up back in June, saying "it will be something really cool."

"East, West, North, South "” none of that stuff," he told Entertainment Tonight at the time. "Both of us have names that are pretty common, Jason and Brittany, so something that's unique is our main goal."

Days after Aldean's announcement, new mom Kerr also took to Instagram to share photos of the newborn, and they're all so adorable!

"I won't overload y'all with pictures... (although it's hard not to)💙 My heart is just so full!!!🙏🏼👶🏻," Kerr wrote in the caption.

For obvious reasons, she couldn't resist posting more photos of precious Memphis.

Memphis is Kerr's first child, but Aldean's third. He will be joining 10-year-old Kendyl and 14-year-old Keeley, Aldean's daughters from his previous marriage.

The new arrival is Aldean and Kerr's wish come true. The couple previously revealed that they have always planned on having kids, and they hope to have a boy.

"We definitely want a boy, though," Kerr told Us Weekly. "We're crossing our fingers for one. He wants a little hunter, and I want a little athlete, so we'll just have to find a happy medium."
