Former Vice-President Joe Biden and The View co-host Meghan McCain may have different political affiliations, but when it comes to cancer, the two understand each other's emotional states perfectly.
Biden's 46-year-old son, Beau, passed away from glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain caner, in May 2015.
Now, Meghan's father, GOP Senator John McCain, is also battling stage four of the same type of cancer.
The Arizona senator and Vietnam war veteran was diagnosed with the disease this past July after he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot above his left eye.
McCain has since been continuously receiving treatment, including chemotherapy and radiation. He recently completed his first round of chemotherapy, and was even well enough to attend his daughter's last minute wedding.
Although McCain and his family have been trying to stay positive, there have been times when the ordeal proved too much for them.
Since Biden has been through a similar situation, he and Meghan shared an emotional moment on a recent episode of The View, after Meghan asked about his son's cancer diagnosis.
