Badly Injured Kitten Amazes Rescuers With Sheer Will To Live

When this tiny kitten was found, The Dodo reported, he was paralyzed on the side of the road in Palm City, Florida.

He was brought to Caring Fields Felines by the good Samaritan who found him. After just one look, Pauline Glover, executive director of the animal sanctuary and rescue organization, just couldn't say no to him.

They named him Davey and Glover brought him straight to Savanna Animal Hospital in Jensen Beach for emergency surgery. Vets took an X-ray of the little kitten's body and discovered to their dismay that he had a broken cervical vertebra.

Since putting him down was out of the question, he was fitted into a body cast. For the next six weeks Danica Gingras, a veterinary technician  cared for the little kitten, keeping a close eye on his progress 24/7.

Even her 3-year-old dog, Oakley, paid special attention to his new foster brother. "Oakley adores his foster brother Davey," Caring Fields Felines wrote. "He rushes to Davey's side every time he cries."

Now, after plenty of TLC and lots of physical therapy, little Davey is catching up on his kittening.

It gets better, Gingras and her family fell in love with little Davey and decided to keep him! He has been officially adopted into the family and renamed 'Beans.'

"I am very happy to say we have adopted Davey with the new name of Beans," Gingras said. "My stepdaughter named him Beans because while in his cast she thought he looked like a bean burrito."
