A 75-year-old man has been seen plastering "wanted" signs across his hometown in an effort to be reunited with his long-lost love.
Peter Foulds has been searching for a second chance at love with his childhood sweetheart, but there was only one problem: He doesn't remember her name.
The retired electrician from Lytham St Annes, Lancs. in England, left his hometown at the age of 21 to pursue his career, where he ended up marrying another woman, and raised a family. Foulds has since separated from his wife, the Mirror reports.
After moving back to his old stomping ground, Foulds made it his mission to find his soulmate with the help of his several signs, which read: "WANTED: My Pleasure Beach Girl from St Georges Park. Need her to text me." His cellphone number is also included.
"She was the love of my life - the whole thing was a proper love story," Foulds said. "Admittedly I was probably ten or 11 when I met her and she was six, so it never really became a romantic relationship."
"You might say it was platonic at the time because we were just too young but she was just always there in my life," Foulds told The Sun.
"We held hands a couple of times but there was never anything more. It's so long ago I can barely remember her name. I think it was Sarah," he added. "Whenever I used to play out she was there, and sometimes she used to jump on the back of my bike," he added.
However, a shock run-in 50 years later would prove it wasn't the last time Foulds would see "Sarah" again.
Foulds said his only other encounter with the woman - who would be now be 70-years-old - was in 2008, when he bumped into her at a pub. He was stunned she even recognized him.
"It was a complete shock and I just pushed her away because I didn't believe it," Foulds said. "I just thought there's no way it could possibly have been her. I think I told her 'you've got the wrong person, I'm sorry.'"
While Foulds said he hopes he'll be able to spend the rest of his life with his childhood sweetheart, he has yet to receive a response.
"I'm just hoping she sees one of the signs and gets in touch with me. She was the love of my life and all I want to do is care for her in her old age."
