Man Was Sick Of Hearing About Homelessness, What He Does Next Started A Revolution

Insurance salesman, Eric Escamilla was tired of hearing about big ideas from small minds - especially when it comes to homelessness. "It's time to stop having ideas about how to help other people. It's time to actually help other people," Escamilla said.

Escamilla decided to take matters into his own hands by building a "Blessing Box" similar to another project in a nearby city that he had read about.

Residents of his small town, Big Spring, soon caught wind of what he was doing and decided to join his crusade. Soon, Blessing boxes were popping up all over town.

In less than a month more than a dozen boxes filled with non-perishable foods and household items were available all over town.

Anyone who was struggling to make ends meet could reach into the makeshift outdoor pantry and help themselves to a few essentials.

"That's what I wanted to do!" Escamilla told NBC news. "Let's move together as a community. Let's change this city as a whole." He says he believes that anyone can take part in helping their community by paying it forward in some way.
