Have you ever looked at an ATM and wished it would give you a hamburger? No? Well, either way McDonald's has made an instananeous Big Mac machine to deliver a hamburger to you in a matter of seconds.
What? How? And more importantly why? Well, in Boston McDonald's is setting up a Big Mac ATM in Kenmore Square between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on January 31st where you can get a free Big Mac.
All you have to do is put your twitter handle into the machine and then it will tweet from your account a message that says "Check out the new Big Mac" and then out pops your burger.
What do you think of this invention? I am more concerned about the burgers that have been sitting there for hours. I mean, free doesn't have to be fresh but it would be ideal. Well apparently that isn't an issue. A local McDonald's operator ensured that the burgers would in fact be freshly loaded throughout the day.
"We can't give away all the secrets, but fresh Macs will be constantly loaded into the machine to ensure a high quality experience." Vincent Spadea - local McDonald's operator
If anything that raises more questions than it answers! They are claiming that this isn't the future of McDonald's, they are just looking for a new way to market their new sizes of Big Macs.
This isn't the first foray into technological fast food. McDonald's added touch screen ordering kiosks to some of their stores in 2015 that let you order without having to talk to anyone, but you still had to pay. These ATM burgers are totally free other than the Twitter endorsement! Not such a bad deal right?
It will be super interesting to see how this goes as a marketing experiment. Let us know if you try it!
