He's a real life Clifford!
When former model Claire Stoneman first met Freddy the Great Dane, he was the runt of the litter. But with a little love and affection, he's grown to an incredible 7 feet, 6 inches tall, earning him a Guinness World Record as the world's tallest dog.
For Stoneman, life with two enormous Great Danes (Freddy's sister Fleur lives with her too) isn't always easy, but this proud owner loves to spoil her giant dogs more than anything in the world.
To put Freddy's size in perspective, this pooch makes some of the tallest players in the NBA look like kids. At 6'8", Lebron James is actually 10 inches shorter than Freddy, and only three players in the history of the league were taller than this adorable dog.
Freddy stays in such impressive shape by eating whole roasted chickens, and his favorite snack: peanut butter on toast. He's also eaten a few sofas in his lifetime. Although Stoneman says he's grown out of the habbit, she had to replace her couch 23 times because Freddy acquired a taste for living room furniture.
Stoneman understands better than anyone that caring for her larger-than-life dogs has its costs. According to her, she spends over $15,000 a year on both her dogs. She also goes the extra mile for Freddy - literally. The pair wake up early and go for a 40 minute walk, to tire Freddy out while there are no other dogs around.
"If he wants to run after a dog," Stoneman says, "I wouldn't be able to stop him." She's only 5'4" after all.
While Stoneman lives alone, she says that Freddy and Fleur make great companions.
"I've been single for the best part of four years. But I get cuddles off the dog and I don't have to wash dirty underpants."
But she does have to clean up a broken sofa every once in a while. Congratulations to Freddy on his BIG win!
