Doppelgangers Are EVERYWHERE, And Social Media Can Help Us Find Them.

Some pretty strange things happened at the Olympics this year, but they were overshadowed by all the incredible girl power and not-so-incredible fake robberies.

What's so strange? Two words: Doppelgangers.

Thank baby Jesus there is more than one Zac Efron! - Why wasn't this front page news! Ladies (and Gentlemen)! More to go around!

Leo x 2 - it's all in the eyebrows!

The Duchess' long lost twin is an Olympian? Why not!

But, it didn't start there...

Things Got Weird in 2015

So, this happened: It's 2015 and two strangers get on a plane. One sits down next to the other and looks into the eyes of his twin.

Sounds like a joke, right? Well, it's real life, baby.

Neil Thomas Douglas (right) walked onto an airplane in London, England and sat down next to his doppleganger, Robert Sterling (left). The two had a laugh, took a selfie and enjoyed their flight. A friend of Douglas' posted the twinsies on Twitter and within hours received over 12,000 retweets.

In an eerie twist of fate, the faux twins ran into each other twice more! Turns out that both men had booked rooms at the same hotel and then ran into each other again at the same bar later that night!

Meanwhile, pictures were pouring into Twitter from all over the internet of ginger bearded doppelgangers. It was a veritable crowd of copies!

Things got bearder and bearder...

If you think that's strange, it gets stranger.

In March 2015, three friends from Dublin, Ireland thought it might be fun to find their doppelgangers - twin strangers. Harry, Terrance and Niamh created Facebook, Twitter and Youtube accounts requesting the internet's assistance in finding their twin strangers.

Niamh was the most successful - finding THREE doppelgangers. These fake triplets are eeriely identical!

Karen Branigan, Ireland

Luisa from Italy...

Those magical Irish genes were at it again when Niamh met her third copy - Irene Adams from the land of Eire.

Legend has it that out of about 7 billion people on this planet, there are 7 that look like you. So, would you do it? With the success of Twin Strangers, Niamh and her friends created a website that could be the portal to your strange twin encounter - twinstrangers.net. Other sites such as ilooklikeyou.com or findmydoppelganger.net have popped up too.

As for me? I'm happy believing the snowflake theory - I am precious and unique, my Momma says so. How about you? Let us know in the comments below!
