Meghan Markle Can't Wear A Tiara, But Kate Middleton Can, Here's Why

Gala / Tatler Magazine

The royal wedding between newly engaged couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is only months away, but we won't be seeing this soon-to-be bride flashing anything that hints at her becoming royalty.

On the other hand, Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton, has stepped out wearing royal jewelry on several occasions, including the time she wore Princess Diana's favorite tiara as a touching tribute.

There are many differences between Meghan and the Duchess of Cambridge.

It was only last week that Meghan made headlines for appearing in public with a "messy" hairstyle. She was walking in the streets of London with her fiance in a messy-style bun.

That's something you'll never see Kate do. Meghan's soon-to-be sister-in-law usually wears her hair in a classic chignon when she puts it up.

Whether she'll break royal tradition once again is up for debate, but it's unlikely that she'll get past this one.

Here's why you won't be seeing Meghan posing for photos with a tiara on anytime soon.

Meghan will have to wait until her wedding before she's able to model any expensive royal headpieces.

"Flashy diamonds and tiaras are not worn during the day, and only married ladies wear tiaras," etiquette expert Grant Harold told the BBC. "For married ladies it was a sign of status and would show you were taken and not looking for a husband. For the gentleman it was a clear sign not to make advances toward the lady in question."

The wedding will take place in May of this year, and Meghan will have the choice of which tiara she'd like to wear.

"She can choose something suitable, but she might also have the Spencer tiara, which is also Harry's heritage and is the one Diana wore on her wedding day," royal expert Ingrid Seward told Us Weekly.

Although she hasn't been able to model a tiara while she's engaged, it's not the first time Meghan has worn the headpiece.

Photos of a teenage Meghan wearing a crown as homecoming queen have surfaced online.

She's going to look so beautiful on her wedding day!

Do you think there's a chance that Meghan will choose to break this royal tradition?
