Do you have serious photography skills and a pet who loves to act silly? That's all it takes to win a new contest that challenges pet owners to capture the funny side of sharing their home with a four-legged friend. The first ever Comedy Pet Photography Awards are accepting submissions from all over the world, so your goofy guinea pig or dopey dog could earn you some cash.
The contest, which is also raising awareness for animal conservation and responsible pet ownership, has a few important rules - but the first one is be creative!
The contest in only accepting pictures of domesticated animals, which means animals in zoos and conservation parks aren't allowed.
Pets also can't be photographed wearing clothes or using props they wouldn't normally interact with.
There are even rules against endangered and exotic pets - so no lions, zebras or bobcats - and a veterinarian will check every photo for signs of "bad breeding" that could harm the animal.
The contest has already received thousands of entries from more than 60 countries around the world, but if you think your pet has what it takes to win, you can submit your own photo here (but be quick, the contest closes May 31st).
Even if you don't win the grand prize - $2,500 and some camera gear - there are special categories including for young and old photographers and a special award for the best dog picture.
But be warned: the contest is judged by some serious wildlife experts, photographers and magazine publishers, so bring your "A" game!
