Oprah Evacuated As Wildfires Threaten Her Home

One of California's largest wildfires in history continues to cause destruction sending the southeastern part of the state into fury.

The massive wildfire is threatening thousands of homes, including those owned by Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres and Rob Lowe.

Katy Perry shared that her parents were forced to evacuate their home in Santa Barbara County on her mother's birthday.

"Woke up to wish my mom a happy 70th birthday today to find my brother evacuating them from the insane #ThomasFire in Santa Barbara County that has kicked up once again... praying for the firefighters & first responders that are fighting it back as best they can," she said, adding a broken heart emoji. "Love you SB."

She also took time to send a big thank you to first responders for their tireless work.

"A big thank you to all the firefighters & first responders from all the surrounding areas that have come out to fight these #thomasfire flames... #805strong," she wrote.

Several celebrities have left their homes because of the fire threat, which started near Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula on December 4.

Ellen Degeneres shared last week that she and her six pets had left their home behind last week.

"Our house is under threat of being burned. We just had to evacuate our pets. I'm praying for everyone in our community and thankful to all the incredible firefighters. The live stream is on http://KEYT.com," she tweeted.

She gave us an update yesterday saying that their home was still standing but there was a lot of destruction from the blaze.

"Portia and I are watching http://KEYT.com and seeing all the devastation from the #ThomasFire. Our home is still standing, but so many homes have been lost. Firefighters continue to be my heroes," she wrote.

The massive Thomas Fire has covered at least 267,500 acres as of Saturday night. Mandatory evacuations, road closures and unhealthy air quality warnings have covered parts of Santa Barbara County.

While burning hundreds of thousands of acres, it has also destroyed at least 1,000 structures and continues to threaten more areas - including the home of Oprah.

Winfrey's home sits in the coastal city of Montecito, and Saturday she said that her house was "so far still standing," but the situation continues to get worse.

On Sunday, she, her staff and her dogs evacuated her home nicknamed "Promised Land."

"Still praying for our little town," the 63-year-old host wrote. "Winds picked up this morning creating a perfect storm of bad for firefighters."

"So far still standing. Praying for the Promised Land and everyone else's land.  firefighters on the defense," Oprah tweeted.

She also took some time to recognize the hard work the firefighters are putting in.

"God bless every firefighter and their families. fighting 3 weeks straight. still going. Imagine their exhaustion!#ThomasFire," she tweeted.

Rob Lowe also shared his first-hand experience with the wildfire near his home.

"Our house aprox 7:30 am today. Pray for Santa Barbara," he wrote on his Instagram post.

Chelsea Handler, Lionel Richie, Paris Hilton and Lea Michele also had to leave their homes for a safer location.

Our prayers go out to the communities being affected by the California wildfire.
