We've all popped pimples. It's part of life. Whether it's out of boredom, desperation, or compulsion we just can't resist that satisfying pop.
But can popping your zits actually be deadly? Short answer: yes.
There's an area on your face that doctors call "the deadly triangle," where if you pop zits you could actually DIE. Like...for real die. You could be dead.
The danger triangle is from the bridge of your nose, down to the corner of your mouth.
But why is it so deadly to pop these specific zits in this specific area? The answer is actually pretty simple. When you pop a zit, you're opening up a pore and it could become infected. Your hands have bacteria, and so does the air in general. Normally it would just lead to a grosser pimple. But in this danger triangle, the blood vessels drain to the back of your head. Any infection you get in a popped pimple in this area can lead to loss of vision, meningitis, a brain abscess, or even death.
That seems like as good a reason as any to not pop that nose pimple. Anywhere else on your face is fair game, though. So don't worry too much. You can still feel the satisfaction for making that whitehead disappear.
