Are you ready for the next royal wedding? Well it looks like you won't have to wait much longer! Start preparing yourselves for a summer wedding between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry!
In the early spring of 2016, it was announced that His Highness was dating American actress Meghan Markle. According to Markle, they had been dating for approximately six months before it was made public.
"We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people's perception. Nothing about me changed. I'm still the same person that I am, and I've never defined myself by my relationship," she told Vanity Fair.
It wasn't until people starting making rude and racist comments towards Markle that the palace, and Prince Harry, released statements on the matter.
"Some of [the drama] has been hidden from the public"”the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life," the palace wrote.
"It is not right, that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm," the statement continued. "He knows commentators will say this is 'the price she has to pay' and that 'this is all part of the game.' He strongly disagrees. This is not a game"”it is her life and his."
After making their first official public appearance together at the Invictus Games in Toronto, rumors started flying about how serious the relationship between Harry and Markle is.
Now, almost two years since their relationship started, it seems like things are going to be busy for the couple starting very soon!
"Royal watchers would love a Christmas engagement announcement, and as far as we're concerned it's coming imminently," one source says. "Meghan has met her prince charming and it looks like this fairytale is going to end happy ever after."
"It will definitely be a summer wedding," another source confirms.
It's already been noted that Markle is leaving her show, Suits, and has been packing up her Toronto apartment to move to the UK.
"There are are no plans for them to live separately," a friend of Markle's says. "Meghan will move right in. With Suits over, so is her life in Toronto. But she's really excited about starting a new chapter with Harry."
As for when you could expect an engagement announcement, sources say you can expect that in the new year.
"[It] will likely be some time in January," the source says. "It gives Meghan some time to get settled and will be a great start to 2018."
This makes sense, as a royal engagement is not taken lightly. There will be an official proclamation, a photo session at Kensington Palace, and a TV interview. Not to mention any other news sources who want an exclusive with the soon-to-be newlyweds.
