One year ago, a young Siamese cat was brought into the Adobe Animal Hospital and Veterinary Clinic in El Paso, Texas with life-threatening injuries.
The little cat had been struck by a car and the impact had broken her jaw. According to her owner, Crystal Tate, any other shelter would have chosen to euthanize her, but the doctors at Adobe believed that she deserved a chance.
Although her chances of survival were low, this brave little fighter pulled through. The little cat had a long road ahead of her, but Tate fell in love with the delicate creature at first sight.
Even though those beautiful Siamese "eyes showed so much sadness, her purrs showed so much love and hope, " said Tate. When she was strong enough to go home, Crystal named the kitten Duchess and showered her with love.
"Duchess' jaw is still crooked and it will be for the rest of her life, but it hasn't crushed her spirit," Tate said. "We are still learning her quirks and helping her live her new life, but we wouldn't have it any other way."
