Little Ava and Erika Sandoval were born joined at the waist. For the first two years of their lives, they shared a bladder, liver and other parts of their digestive system, as well as a third leg - until now.
The two-year-old twins were successfully separated at Children's Hospital Stanford in Palo Alto last week after a 17-hour surgery.
These adorable little girls were recovering in separate beds and had not seen each other since before their surgery. Nurses captured the tender moment when the girls are brought together for the first time in weeks and their sweet smiles are just the thing to warm a mother's heart.
Watch what happens when Eva reaches into Erika's blanket! Sisters will be sisters!
