Justin Smith was 25 years old when he froze to death while laying in the winter snow for nearly 10 hours.
He had been walking home from a friend's house in the subzero temperatures when he collapsed on the side of the road. When his father found him, the paramedics had already called the ER doctor to confirm Justin's death.
His body felt like a block of solid marble, but Dr Gerald Coleman was not prepared to give up on him. His core body temperature had dropped to the mid 60's - the coldest temperature on record in which a person has survived.
