Teen Stunned To Learn She Was Abducted As Newborn Reveals Her Feelings On National TV

It's hard to imagine what could possibly have been going through mind of Alexis Manigo when the woman she thought was her mother told her that she was not actually her biological daughter.

This was not a case of adoption though, Gloria Williams had kidnapped Alexis when she was just 8 hours old and whisked the baby away to Waterboro, South Carolina.

Alexis was born in 1998 as Kamiyah Mobley to a 16-year-old girl named Shanara Mobley, who never gave up searching for her missing daughter.

They would not see each other again for another 18 years. But, by this time, Alexis had lived a completely different life with no knowledge of who she could have been, or of the family that was searching for her.

Now, with the only mother she has ever known facing kidnapping charges and a whole second family eager to make up for lost time, the teen has been thrust into national spotlight. Many questions being asked of her just simply cannot be answered and she needs to take her time to sort everything out.

These new revelations come with a whole pile of legal issues - including Alexis' identity. Lawyers will have to sort out who she is on paper, reissuing her a legitimate driver's license and a Social Security card to start.

But for now, she seems to be navigating this situation with grace and understanding. She still defends Williams as her mother, whom she loves. Yet, she is willing to embrace her birth family as well.

"I feel like I do owe them that, to give them a chance, you know? Get to know them," Alexis told ABC . "I'm not saying they weren't going to be good parents. I'm not saying that at all, but it would have been a different life. When you find out you've got another family out there, it's just more love."
