I have two words. Chocolate… Martini. What else is there to say? Ok, so it's not the traditional martini drinker's idea of a drink, but maybe this delightful chocolate cocktail is even better! It's practically dessert!
Now you could make a chocolate martini by starting with a chocolate liqueur, but if you want it to be extra rich and creamy, chocolate ganache is the way to go! Irish cream and a hint of vodka take care of the rest! Now go play mixologist!
For the chocolate ganache
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 5 ounces semi-sweet chocolate roughly chopped
For the chocolate martini
- 1 ounce good quality vodka, divided
- 4 ounces Bailey's Irish cream, divided
- Grated chocolate to decorate glasses
To make the ganache, heat the heavy cream, over medium high heat, until it starts to boil.
Pour the heavy cream over the chopped chocolate in a medium sized bowl and stir until the chocolate melts.
Let it cool before making the cocktails.
To make the chocolate martinis, to decorate the glasses, moisten the rim of your glasses with cold water or a lemon. Turn the glasses upside down and dip them into the grated chocolate, twisting them around so you get more chocolate on the rim. Reserve.
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway through with ice.
Add 1 cup of chocolate ganache, 0.5 ounces of vodka and 2 ounces of Bailey's.
Shake it vigorously for 30 seconds.
Pour the Chocolate Martini into one of the decorated glasses.
Repeat those steps to make the second cocktail.
