An Old Man Saved This Trapped Bird The Sweetest Way Possible

Nelson Wilson's new year got off to a great start last week when he helped save a finch that found itself frozen to a metal pole.

Apparently the little bird was enjoying the heated water tank for Wilson's horses, but his wet feet got stuck on the bar above the tank. Luckily Wilson stumbled upon it before it was too late.

He set to work immediately trying to free this poor thing, first by rubbing his hand over the trapped feet, then with an even more creative solution.

The bird takes off as soon as he's free, but we're sure he's grateful to Wilson for his help.

That was some quick thinking on Wilson's part! Hopefully he can get rid of that bar so no more birds get trapped, but if not they can depend on him for a handy escape.

As Wilson writes in the video description: "Gentle sideways motion with my thumb brought freedom for the frightened bird and a smile of satisfaction to my face... a delightful way to start a new year."

We agree, and we hope the rest of 2017 is as delightful as this video.
