This Fridge Commercial From The 50s Proves They Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To

We think that technology gets better all the time, and for the most part that's true.

Smartphones, computers, TVs and other gadgets have improved a lot in the past 10 years. But when it comes to some of the appliances we grew up with, it can be surprising how good they used to be.

Take the refrigerator featured in this 1956 ad by Frigidaire. Almost 60 years later, this antique puts every fridge I've ever owned to shame.

First thing's first: this fridge is huge! You could fit a whole month's worth of leftovers in there with room to spare.

Then, there's all the bells and whistles. Like the detachable "picture window" hydrator that lets you check on your veggies and wash them all at once.

Then, you have the rolling shelves to reach the food hiding at the back. Honestly, this is such a simple but brilliant idea, why isn't it standard in all fridges by now?

Finally, the freezer - yes, there's a built-in freezer - has an automatic ice ejector. If you have keen eyes you can even spot that there's room for four trays of ice cube in a special section under the freezer. How convenient!

Honestly, I think most of us would be glad to have a fridge this good today, no matter how old it is!

This just proves that we're not as smart as we think we are. I mean, does your fridge have rolling shelves?
