If you've never seen Touched By An Angel, you've at least heard of it. It was basically required knowledge for anyone in the 90s. The theme song either triggered happiness or extreme boredom, but it triggered something.
Though the cast changed on and off through each episode, there were some main characters we grew to love over the entire series. But after the show ended in 2003, did you keep up with them? Here's where the cast of Touched By An Angel is now.
Valerie Bertinelli
Bertinelli has arguably had the most success post-Angel. Though she was only on the show for 46 episodes, Bertinelli still made an impact on the hit show. After divorcing Eddie Van Halen in 2007, Bertinelli wrote a book about how she struggled to lose weight and her stressful marriage. In 2010, the actress landed a lead roll in the NBC comedy Hot in Cleveland alongside Betty White. Bertinelli also has her own TV show on Food Network called Valerie's Home Cooking where she makes recipes that are both comforting and healthy.

John Dye
Dye's character Andrew was only supposed to be a recurring character on the series. However, in the third season he was upgraded to a regular because so many fans loved his character. After Touched By An Angel ended, Dye had some minor roles in TV shows and movies. Unfortunately, in 2011, John Dye was found dead in his home in California. He passed away due to heart-related problems, according to his family.
Roma Downey
Roma Downey starred in every single episode of Touched By An Angel as Monica, the caring angel. She earned multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her role, and won the hearts of everyone watching. She married famed TV producer Mark Burnett of Survivor fame in 2007, and in 2011 the two announced they were producing a new series. The Bible aired on History Channel and Downey played the role of Mary, Jesus' mother. Downey herself also became a TC producer and continues to take small acting roles to this day.
Della Reese
Della Reese played our favorite angel, Tess. Roma Downey even said Reese is like a mother to her.
"She's very wise. She's very loving," Downey said. "She can be a little gruff at times, but she's always adoring and adorable. I lost my mother when I was very young, and during my whole adolescence and into my twenties, I'd been looking for a mother figure, and I really think I can say with absolute truth and sincerity that I feel that I finally found her in Della Reese. I think I'll just always remember the feel of her neck against my cheek when she hugs me and the love I know that she has for me and the love that I feel for her and the love that she has for God. To know Della is to know that she loves God."
A jazz singer in her own right, Della Reese had a few TV appearances after Touched By An Angel, but her life was interrupted when she began experiencing complications from type II diabetes.
"My life is at stake," she said. "I don't have type 2 diabetes "” type 2 diabetes has me."
Sadly, Della Reese passed away in November of 2017.
"On behalf of her husband, Franklin Lett, and all her friends and family, I share with you the news that our beloved Della Reese has passed away peacefully at her California home last evening surrounded by love. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and pastor, as well as an award-winning actress and singer. Through her life and work she touched and inspired the lives of millions of people," Downey confirmed to PEOPLE in a statement.
"She was a mother to me and I had the privilege of working with her side by side for so many years on Touched By an Angel" she continued. "I know heaven has a brand new angel this day. Della Reese will be forever in our hearts. Rest In Peace, sweet angel. We love you."
