Drink Your Morning Coffee From A Mug Made Of Grandpa's Ashes

Boutique crafters are finding new ways to immortalize our deceased loved ones, but this is a little strange.

Chronicle Cremation Designs offers families the opportunity to have breakfast with their deceased loved ones every morning. Now you can enjoy your first cup of coffee from a mug made of grandma, or pour your cereal into a bowl made of grandpa.

According to the website, your loved one's ashes are blended into unique ceramic glaze that coats each memorial piece. An ashes collection kit is mailed to your home with specific collection instructions.

The coffee mug is 4 x 4 x 4 inches and costs $199 USD. The Centerpiece bowl will run you about $649 USD and is about 12 x 12 x 4 inches.

Justin Crowe is the artist behind Chronicle Cremation Designs, who was inspired to start the company after his grandpa passed away. He writes:

"Instead of observing an urn or photograph on a shelf, I wanted a way to interact with memories on a daily basis. Our process was born out of a desire to keep those who've lived before us remembered in daily life."

Besides breakfast dishes, you can glaze your loved ones onto more traditional ceramic pieces: vases, luminaries, jewelry and an urn. It can take between 30-60 days to deliver the memorial piece to your home.
