Turns Out Everyone's Been Getting Doris Day's Age Wrong This Whole Time

Doris Day took the saying, "age is just a number" too literally.

The legendary actress and singer was celebrating her 93rd birthday earlier this year, but things took a turn when she discovered that she is not really 93 years old as the entire world including herself have been made to believe.

According to The Associated Press, the Love Me or Leave Me star was actually born on April 3, 1922 which makes her 95 years old!

AP found a copy of the actress' birth certificate from Ohio's Office of Vital Statistics to back up the fact. Doris Mary Kappelhoff, her birth name, was born in 1922 and her parents were Alma and William Kappelhoff of Cincinnati.

Can you imagine her reaction when she found out?

While many people tend to hate being given an older age, Doris was actually happy to finally know how old she really is.

She released a statement addressing AP's discovery.

"I've always said that age is just a number and I have never paid much attention to birthdays, but it's great to finally know how old I really am!" she said in a statement.

Her spokesperson Charley Cullen Walters suggested that the age mixup may have been caused by a miswritten date on an audition form.

"The story I have heard the most is that at one point Doris was up for a role when quite young and her age may have been miswritten on the audition form. We don't know if that's correct, but if so it could've simply stuck for all these years." he said.

When it comes to the friendly rivalry between her and pal Betty White, Doris still doesn't get the last laugh because she is two months younger. But what really matters is the truth, and as Walters said "it's exciting landmark than we thought."

Well, we can all agree that 95 never looked better!
