When people say some place is "going to the dogs," they mean it's getting worse. So if a village is going to the cats, it must be getting better, right?
That's what's happening in Doryan, Turkey where villagers have built a whole miniature town for nearby stray cats. The project was organized by Mehmet Orhan and his wife Müjgan, who run an organization called the Street Animals Protection Agency.
Mehmet sold his car to cover the costs of building the cat-sized village, which is made up of about 20 winter-proofed buildings and some play structures. Close to 100 cats live in the village, and people from Doryan love to stop by and visit them whenever they can.
Even some local dogs are enjoying the hospitality.
