Kylie Milner of Ipswich, Australia has been caught in a scheme that has allowed her to steal over $4500 from different supermarkets in her area. Her plan involved photocopies and self scanners.

What she did was photocopy the barcodes of 65 cent and 72 cent packs of noodles and printed them onto sticky labels. When she would go to the super market she would simply cover the labels with her cheaper versions and scan the items through like normal.

She managed to sneak through items like coffee machines, protein powders and expensive meats. She was caught after managers noticed she was always nervous at the self check-outs. She admitted to successfully doing this 31 times.

Milner was sent to jail for nine months for 31 counts of fraud but the sentence ended up getting suspended for three years. Her lawyer used the defence that she was bankrupt but the court order her to pay $1545 to Coles and $2070 to Woolworths.

They are cracking down on self check-out theft due to the great increase of problems they have been having. Police have stated that people are able to  "swipe everything as carrots" because they don't have to interact with cashiers.
